Kaalapathar is a Kannada action drama film, which hit a big screen on 13 September, 2024. Directed by Debue Week Varun, the film was opened for mixed reactions at the box office. The film also struggled to secure any OTT platform for its release. However, the film has finally made its way to streaming the platforms.
When and where to see Kalapathar
Kalpathar started streaming on Amazon Prime Video on 30 May 2025. Announcing on X, Vicky Varun wrote, “My film Kalpathar is now streaming on prime videos! The journey of love, duty and intensive action – brought to life with passion and dedication.”

Official trailer and Kalapatathar’s plot
Kalpathar follows the story of Shankara, a person of an army, whose life takes an unexpected turn after a turn of fate, which gives him national recognition. By accidentally as a hero, his village honors him with a statue. But this sudden fame changes everything. He starts realizing that nothing is right in his life now.
The film is set up in a drought, drought -stricken village of Mudalpura in North Karnataka. Hard landscape and water deficiency is an important part of the story. Shankara’s internal conflict deepens because he struggles with the consequences of his unexpected fame.
A parallel track consists of its bond with the Ganges, a school student, who becomes his voice. Meanwhile, local politicians exploit both the water crisis and the fame of Shankara to manipulate the villagers.
Cast and Crew of Kalapathar
Kalpathar has provided Vicky Varun, Dhanya Ramkumar, and Nagabharan in the lead roles. Auxiliary actors include Achut Kumar, Sampat, Rajesh Natarana, Gali Nata, Basu Hiramath and Kathaj Kandeepuri.
The film is produced from Bilinkote by Suresh and Nagaraju, with direction by Vicky Varun. Sandeep Kumar handles cinematography, while Sangeet is composed by Anoop Sealin 2.0. On the other hand, editing Deepu S. Is done by Kumar.
