Days after the death of renowned Tamil filmmaker, actor and screenwriter K Bhagyaraj, his actor-son Shantanu Bhagyaraj and daughter Sharanya Bhagyaraj, a former actor and a fashion designer, paid an emotional tribute to their father on social media. The duo shared emotional posts remembering the famous filmmaker, who died of a heart attack on June 27. He was 73 years old.

Shantanu shared a video clip from an old event celebrating Bhagyaraj’s 50th year in the film industry, where he talked about his admiration for his father. In the video, he said, “If I had my way, I would like to take 10 years out of my life and give it to my father, because you should be making many films for the next 10 years or even longer. There are still many stories that you should tell people. As a fan and a learner, I want to watch and learn.”

Sharing the clip, Shantanu wrote, “Only if I could Appa,” a caption that resonated with fans and members of the film fraternity, who expressed their condolences in the comments section.

Bhagyaraj’s daughter, Sharanya, also remembered her father with an emotional video montage featuring photos from different stages of his life. The compilation includes childhood photos, Bhagyaraj’s moments with his child and screenshots of their text conversations, offering a glimpse of their close relationship and how they remained an active part of each other’s daily lives despite their busy schedules.


In his emotional tribute, he wrote about receiving several missed calls from his father.

Bhagyaraj died on 27 June in Chennai due to a heart attack. Following his death, the Government of Tamil Nadu paid state honors to his funeral, while members of the film fraternity mourned the death of one of the most renowned creative voices of Tamil cinema.

Widely known for his exceptional screenwriting and middle-class family dramas, Bhagyaraj left behind a legacy that has influenced generations of filmmakers and actors.
