Jyotika defends Suriya’s Kanguva amid negative reviews: Flaws are part of films
Amid the trolling that Suriya’s Kanguva is receiving, the superstar’s wife and actor Jyotika has defended it, saying that flaws are part of films.
Amid online criticism of Suriya’s Kanguva, his wife and actor Jyothika defended the film, admitting that flaws are inherent in the filmmaking. In a long Instagram post, Jyotika also addressed the controversy surrounding the film’s “raucous sound” and background music. He condemned those trolling the film and called it part of a “publicity” effort to undermine the genuine effort at filmmaking.
Jyotika shared a poster of Kanguva and expressed her surprise at the negative reception the film received. Calling it a farce, he praised Suriya for being an actor who dares to push the boundaries of cinema. Furthermore, he criticized those who praise “unintellectual big-budget films” with unclear storylines. Highlighting the positive reviews and strong second part of Kanguva, Jyothika pointed to the team’s efforts in bringing a unique concept to life.
Here’s what Jyothika wrote:
I have written this note as Jyotika and a cinema lover, and not as the wife of actor Surya –
Kanguva – A spectacle in cinema. So proud of you Surya, what an actor you are and how you dared to dream of taking cinema forward.
Of course, the first 1/2 hour doesn’t work, and the sound is crackly! Flaws are a part of most Indian films, so it makes sense, especially in a film like this that experiments extensively! N This is only the first 1/2 hour of the full 3 hours. But to be honest, it’s a complete cinematic experience! Camera work and execution never seen before in Tamizh cinema, @vetripalanisamy (sic).”
I am surprised by the negative reviews from the media and some fraternities, because it has not been done at this high level for most non-intellectual big budget films I have seen before – with old stories where women are chased, dual- Meaning the dialogues are spoken and they have the best action sequences.
And what about the positives of Kanguva? The women’s action sequences in the second half and the young boy’s love and betrayal for Kangwa? I think they forgot the good parts while reviewing. Now this makes me wonder if anyone should ever read, listen to or believe these! It’s sad that they chose so much negativity for Kangwa on the first day, even before the first show was over (seemed like promotion for a lot of groups) when it was actually 3D and so great thanks to the team for making it. deserves praise for the concept and effort made by. picture!
Be proud of Team Kanguva, because they are making negative comments or just doing that and have no credit for the upliftment of cinema!

Earlier, the film’s sound designer Resul Pookutty considered the edgy music of Kanguva. In his post shared on social media, he said that the art and artistry of a sound designer is always stuck in the loudness war. He also mentioned that a film would lose its repeat value due to these costly mistakes.
Sharing India Today’s Kanguva review on his Instagram page, Resul Pookutty questioned those who should be blamed. He wrote, “A friend of mine, who is a re-recording mixer, sent me this clip. It is disappointing to see such reviews about sound in our popular films.”
