Recalling how the health issue first came up, Jamie said, “He had a tumor when he was in school. At first we didn’t understand what it was, but then it got out of control. It started making him uncomfortable. He even changed the way he dressed to hide the tumor. As a sister, I felt I needed to protect him. We were in the same school, and I was always very protective of him.”

He said the family soon realized that surgery would be necessary, which marked the beginning of a very difficult phase for them.

Talking about the emotional impact, Jamie shared, “We had to undergo surgery, and it was very difficult and complicated. During that phase, our lives completely changed. We were always a God-fearing family, but after this incident, things became very spiritual and real for us.”

The first surgery, which took place in Mumbai, was not successful, forcing the family to seek further medical options abroad.

Talking about that period, Jamie said, “We had a surgery in Mumbai, which failed. Then we had another surgery in America, which was very long. So he had to undergo two surgeries. It was a two-year process.”

During challenging times, the family turned to faith and prayer as they waited for positive news.

Speaking about his prayers, he said, “When the first surgery failed, we started praying a lot. As a family, we prayed constantly. People would come to our house and pray with us. When my parents took Jessie to America for the second surgery, we stayed in India and prayed 24/7.”

Jamie also recalled an emotional moment when her father sought guidance through prayer before deciding to have a second surgery.

She said, “My father got down on his knees and asked God if he should let his son go for another surgery. At that moment, he felt as if he heard the voice of God telling him, ‘Go for it.'”

Interestingly, the family’s trip to the United States was not originally planned for medical treatment.

Sharing that memory, Jamie said, “We went to America for the summer holidays. My parents were trying to fulfill every wish of Jesse because he was unwell.”

During that trip, the family believes they received a signal that ultimately led them to the hospital where Jesse underwent successful surgery.

Jamie recalled, “We were in a church when a priest looked at him and asked what had happened. When we told him about the tumor, he gave us the name of a hospital and said, ‘God is going to heal him.’ It felt like a sign from God, so we immediately followed it. There was surgery and he recovered.”

Today Jesse Lever is 35 years old and is living a normal life. Looking back, Jamie said that the difficult period ultimately brought the family closer and strengthened their faith.
