John Abraham is ‘proud’ of Veda co-star Sharvari despite box office failure: ‘People will find things to complain about…’

John Abraham and Sharvari recently shared the screen in Nikkhil Advani’s Veda, which was a box office flop. The film, despite receiving mixed reviews, lost out amid a three-way clash with Stree 2 and Khel Khel Mein. Recently, while speaking to Radio City, Abraham spoke about the film’s sad fate and admitted that he still stands by his film.

When asked about the film’s disappointing reception, John said that Veda is a daring film and he did the film because he really wanted to work with filmmaker Nikkhil after Batla House. “Honestly, what is more important than success or failure is what message you are giving through your film. We have told it in an entertaining way, but one cannot deny the fact that the subject is very heavy.”

John said that if people are not interested in such heavy subjects, that is their choice and he respects it. “But you have to face the subject at the end of the day. I am very proud that we have made a very good film,” Abraham added. The actor further admitted that it is normal to have regrets and feel bad when a film does poorly commercially, but with Veda, he feels the team has done practically everything right.

John Abraham said, “Our actors have performed brilliantly and every department from cinematography to action has done a good job. People will find things to complain about in the screenplay and that’s fine. We respect everyone’s point of view. But I am proud that we have made a good film.” He said that apart from everything else, his priority is to be a part of commercially successful films.

The actor has had several hits and flops in his career. In recent years, his Pathan with Shah Rukh Khan created magic at the box office, while his other films like Attack: Part 1, Mumbai Saga and Ek Villain Returns flopped badly at the box office. John will next be seen in The Diplomat, Tehran and Tariq.

On the other hand, Veda was jointly produced by Zee Studios, Emme Entertainment and JA Entertainment and also starred Abhishek Banerjee and Ashish Vidyarthi in lead roles. The action film was said to be inspired by true events.
