US Vice President JD Vance said Friday he is “obsessed” with investigating government information about unidentified flying objects (UFOs) and believes aliens are indeed monsters.Vance laughingly told podcaster Benny Johnson, “I haven’t really spent enough time on it to understand it, but believe me. I’m obsessed with it.”He said, “I still have three more years as Vice President. I will get to the bottom of the UFO files.”Vance’s comments came after Johnson asked him about President Donald Trump’s February order directing federal agencies to begin “identifying and releasing” government files related to UFOs and aliens. Trump said the move was “based on the tremendous interest shown”, the same month former President Barack Obama said aliens were “real” even though he had not personally seen them. Trump later told reporters that Obama “gave out classified information, he shouldn’t have done that.”On the nature of UFOs, Vance told Johnson, “I don’t think they’re aliens. I think they’re demons,” describing it as the Christian understanding of “celestial beings that fly around that do weird things to people.”No evidence of intelligent life beyond Earth has been found, but interest in UFOs has increased in recent years as the US government has investigated reports of unusual aircraft amid concerns that foreign powers may be testing advanced technology. In March 2024, the Pentagon released a report saying it had no evidence that the unidentified aerial phenomena were foreign technology, AFP reported. Many reported sightings were later identified as weather balloons, spy planes, satellites, or other paranormal activity.
