Filmmaker Farah Khan recently visited her uncle, veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar and actor Shabana Azmi’s house for an episode of her popular cooking vlog – and walked straight into a playful roast that had the audience laughing. As Farah took her audience on a tour of the couple’s Mumbai home, Sukoon, which is known for its regal decor and interiors filled with antiques, she asked Shabana how many years she and Javed have been married. Shabana replied,It’s been forty-one years since we got married. (We have been married for 41 years).”
Farah’s next question – what am I asking? actalis Meaning – There was an immediate happy reaction from Javed. “41. Oh my god,” she said before teasing him further. He added with trademark wit, “We who are poor Indians, we speak forty-one (We poor Indians call it actalis),” left everyone in splits.
The joke didn’t stop here. During the vlog, Javed also turned his sharp humor towards Farah’s cook Dilip, who attempted to recite poetry. “If you read one or two more couplets this building will collapse. (If you read one or two more couplets, this building will collapse),” Javed quipped, drawing laughter from the group.
The episode also featured Farah cooking biryani with Dilip and interacting with Javed and Shabana, giving viewers a glimpse into the couple’s everyday life, marked by warmth, humor and easy camaraderie.
