Jatt & Juliet 3 Box Office Collection: Diljit Dosanjh starrer earns Rs 8 crore worldwide on its first day

Punjabi film Jatt & Juliet 3 opened with the second-best opening day in the history of the industry, grossing Rs 8.10 crore worldwide, slightly behind Carry On Jatta 3 (Rs 8.80 crore). The Diljit Dosanjh and Neeru Bajwa starrer grossed around Rs 4.10 crore in India and Rs 4 crore from overseas markets.

In India, the opening day collection is the second-highest for a Punjabi film, behind Carry On Jatta 3 (Rs 5.20 crore), which released last year on the Bakrid holiday. The film was expected to set records on its opening day and it managed to head in that direction with a record advance, but a clash with Kalki 2898 AD meant that there was a capacity crunch and an unconventional non-holiday Thursday release kept it away from record numbers. A solo release on Friday could have possibly increased the opening day numbers by 10-20 per cent as most major venues were packed to capacity during prime-time shows.

Here are the top five highest-grossing Punjabi films at the Indian box office:

Post film Total
1. jatta 3 carry on Rs. 5.20 crores.
2. Jatt and Juliet 3 Rs. 4.10 crores.
3. keep going jatta 2 Rs. 3.00 Crore.
4. ashes of hope Rs. 2.97 crores.
5. sardaar ji 2 Rs. 2.95 crores.

Overseas, the film set record numbers for Punjabi films by earning over $475 thousand on Thursday, while the actual earnings may rise to $500 thousand, which would surpass Mastani’s $440 thousand earnings on Friday. In Canada, the opening day grossed 300 thousand Canadian dollars, which is almost double the previous record for Punjabi films.
