January 6 is now Diljit Dosanjh Day in Los Angeles

Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh has been honored by the Los Angeles City Council, which has officially declared January 6, 2027, as “Diljit Dosanjh Day”. The award recognizes his role in taking Punjabi music to a worldwide audience and promoting South Asian culture in mainstream American entertainment.
Diljit shared the moment with fans on Instagram, where he posted a video of the occasion. The honor was presented by Los Angeles Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez and marked another milestone in the singer’s global journey.

Sharing the video, Diljit wrote, “Diljit Dosanjh Day in LA. “The Los Angeles City Council has adopted a citizen’s resolution officially declaring January 6, 2027 as ‘Diljit Dosanjh Day.’
In the same post he wrote, “Introduced by Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez, this resolution honors the Indian-origin singer, actor and producer for his significant contributions in globalizing Punjabi music and promoting South Asian representation in mainstream American culture.”
The clip shows Diljit receiving a framed proposal from a woman during a private gathering. Dressed in a white kurta and pink salwar with his signature turban, he looked emotional and folded his hands in gratitude.
Apart from his musical achievements, on the work front, Diljit was recently seen in director Imtiaz Ali’s Prem Kahani. i will come backIn which Naseeruddin Shah, Vedang Raina and Sharvari are in lead roles. India Today, in its review of the film, wrote, “i will come back Wants to create dialogue between generations – between those who lived through Partition and those who inherited its memories. Diljit is also waiting for the release of his period-drama Punjab 95. Directed by Honey Trehan and produced by Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP Movies, the film is based on slain human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra.
