Jamie Foxx left viewers emotional as he talked about the time he suffered a stroke, which happened in April 2023. He talked about his experience during his Netflix special, Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened…
While talking about the incident, Fox became emotional and wiped away tears, saying, “Please, God, let me get through this.” The actor recalled that on April 11, he suffered a severe headache and asked for aspirin. He quickly realized that when you have a medical emergency, “your guys don’t know what to do.”
He then shared that before taking aspirin, he “passed out” and couldn’t remember 20 days. She told the crowd that her friends took her to a doctor in Atlanta, who gave her a cortisone shot and then sent her home, but her sister Deidre Dixon knew something was not right.
He then shared that his sister took him around Atlanta and came to Piedmont Hospital, which Dixon knew nothing about, but he “suspected there were some angles there”.
The Django Unchained star shared that a doctor at the hospital told her sister that her brother was “having bleeding in the brain which caused a stroke” and that if they didn’t operate on him as soon as possible, he would die.
Fox shared that Dixon remained kneeling and outside the operating room the entire time. He told the crowd that doctors told his sister that they did not know where it came from, but that Fox had had a stroke and that he might be able to fully recover from it, but that it would be “the worst year of his life.” Was going to. Fox added, “This was it, Atlanta. You finally got the story. you saved my life.”
Feeling emotional, he recalled waking up to find he was in a wheelchair and wondered why he was in it. Then his friend Dave tells him that he has had a stroke and tells him not to get out of it because he won’t be able to walk.
He then repeated his attempt to get out of the wheelchair on stage but admitted that he was not able to do so and told his friend that it would be a “terrible joke”. “Jamie Foxx doesn’t get strokes,” he shared. He then emotionally reflected on that moment by saying “Stop this stupid prank.”
