Jaideep Ahlawat wanted to join the army: never thought of acting as a profession
Actor Jaideep Ahlawat recently revealed that he wanted to join the Indian Army before taking up acting as a profession. Here’s what he said at Sahitya Aaj Tak 2025
With his fierce intensity and commanding screen presence, actor Jaideep Ahlawat has emerged as one of India’s most acclaimed actors. Now he is all set to step forward as the main antagonist in ‘The Family Man Season 3’ where he will be pitted against Manoj Bajpayee in what promises to be an entertaining encounter. Given his illustrious career, many might not know that the actor was inclined towards joining the Indian Army.
During his session ‘Paatal Lok Ka Permanent Resident’ at Sahitya Aaj Tak 2025, the actor recalled how acting as a profession was never on his to-do list.
Talking about the same, she said, “The professions that come to your mind are often shaped by the inspirations around you. Acting was never really on my radar. I was inclined towards literature because my father read a lot, and that’s where my interest started. But I never thought of acting as a profession. I remember when I was in 11th or 12th class, one of my classmates got selected for NDA That was the moment I really understood what NDA was. Every year, you heard five or six names joining NDA, and it still touches my heart when I think about it.
He further added, “The best part is when I came to know that many Indian Army officers have WhatsApp groups where they discussed and shared news about me playing the role of Hathi Ram Choudhary. I felt really happy, even though I could not join the Army myself, At least my work reached themMy name has been included in the forces and it means a lot to me,”
The actor is currently seen in Prime Video’s ‘The Family Man 3’.
