Jackie Shroff on Baby John’s box office failure: Feeling bad for the producers
Actor Jackie Shroff, who played the villain in Varun Dhawan’s Baby John, recently spoke to India Today Digital about its failure at the box office.

Actor Varun Dhawan’s mass action film Baby John was anticipated as a big Christmas blockbuster. However, the film soon flopped at the ticket counter. Jackie Shroff, who played the villain in the film, recently reacted to its failure and said that he feels bad for the makers.
Speaking exclusively to India Today Digital, the actor discussed whether a film’s disappointing performance at the box office affects him. He shared, “Producers are impressed. They have invested a lot of money with confidence in these projects. And when they don’t get it back, it’s sad. As an actor, of course, you want your You like the performance but you also want it to work well.”
When asked if the failure of a film after so many years as an actor brings sadness, Shroff dismissed it, saying, “I feel sad but not for myself, but for the producers. (You feel bad but not for yourself, for the producers). You do your work honestly, but you also have to think about the people who have invested in it.”
Made on a budget of over Rs 180 crore, Baby John earned Rs 11.25 crore in theatres. There was a huge decline in the film’s figures on the second day and it earned Rs 4.75 crore. According to the report of Sacnilk, the daily earning of the film has now come down to less than one crore. It is struggling to touch the Rs 40 crore mark domestically.
In a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble, actor Rajpal Yadav also addressed the failure of Baby John and talked about Varun Dhawan’s reaction to it. Attributing the film’s failure to its remake, he said, “If it was not a remake, it would have been the most well-made film of my 25-year-old career. But since Vijay made it, the audience saw it first.” And because it was a remake, it had an impact on the box office of the film. Varun is a very sweet guy, he has always tried to do something different and his efforts should be appreciated for taking risks.”
Baby John is the Hindi remake of Thalapathy Vijay’s Tamil film Theri. It also stars Keerthy Suresh and Vamika Gabbi in lead roles.
