Karthi starrer ‘Kaithi’ has been the actor’s fan favorite and many fans are eagerly waiting for its sequel. Since the future of the film is unclear, a recent report has surfaced online that hints at a possible sequel.
Is Karthi’s Kaithi 2 going to launch soon?
According to online reports, Dream Warrior Pictures, the makers of Kaithi, have reportedly censored a video glimpse titled Delhi. The sequel is expected to be announced in a 30-second promo and was reportedly certified by the board on February 19, 2026.
Although there is no official confirmation, it is worth noting that Karthi played the character of Delhi in Kaithi, which became a fan favourite. This project later evolved into the Lokesh Kanagaraj Cinematic Universe (LCU).
Earlier in January, Karthi was asked whether Kaithi 2 would be made. However, the actor revealed that he is not aware of any developments and said that only Lokesh Kanagaraj can give a clear answer.
More about Kathy
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Kaithi is the story of an ex-convict, Dilli, who is forced to help a police officer while a mafia group is active.
Along with Karthi in the lead role, the film stars other actors including Narayan, Arjun Das, Harish Uthman and George Maryan in important roles.
The action thriller marked the first installment in the Lokesh Kanagaraj cinematic universe, which was later expanded with Kamal Haasan starrer Vikram and Vijay starrer Leo.
Apart from this, the upcoming film Benz starring Raghava Lawrence and Nivin Pauly is also set to be a part of LCU.
It was earlier speculated that Lokesh Kanagaraj would start work on Kaithi 2 after finishing the shooting of Coolie. However, the filmmaker recently announced that his next film will be starring Allu Arjun, tentatively titled AA23 (LK07), marking his directorial debut in Telugu cinema.
Karthi’s work front
Karthi was last seen in the lead role in Va Vaathiyar. Directed by Nalan Kumarasamy, the film focuses on a police officer who adopts elements of the late MG Ramachandran’s cinematic characters, influenced by his grandfather.
As a result, the officer develops an alter ego who fights against wrongdoers as an MGR-inspired character. Apart from the Thozha actor, the film also stars Kriti Shetty, Sathyaraj, Shilpa Manjunath and Rajkiran in lead roles.
Looking ahead, Karthi will be seen in the spy action drama Sardaar 2, and he is currently working on Marshal.
