iPhone Fold design details leaked, to get all-black camera plateau
Apple is reportedly set to launch the first foldable iPhone later this year. Now, a new leak has hinted that the rumored iPhone Fold may get an all-black camera module with some notable changes to button placement compared to other iPhone models.

Apple is expected to introduce its first foldable iPhone this year. Over the past few weeks, rumors have surfaced that give us hints as to what we should expect when it comes to specs and features. Now, a new leak has indicated that the rumored iPhone Fold will get an interesting design element with some changes to the button placement on the device.
Black camera module will be available in iPhone Fold, two colors
According to tipster Instant Digital on Weibo, the iPhone Fold is expected to come with the same camera ‘Plato’ as the iPhone Air. However, instead of a body colored camera module, the foldable iPhone may opt for an all-black design.
The layout is expected to include two horizontally arranged cameras, a microphone, and a flash, creating a distinctive look for Apple’s first foldable phone. The black design element is reminiscent of the camera layouts we’ve seen on some iPad Pro models.
Color options for the new foldable iPhone appear to be limited at launch. The only “confirmed” color option is said to be white, but Apple will introduce another shade for the device at launch.
Fold iPhone to get different button placement
According to the tipster, the foldable iPhone will deviate from the standard button placement we usually see on iPhones. The volume buttons will likely be moved to the top edge, being right-aligned in a style reminiscent of the iPad Mini. On the other hand, the Touch ID power button and camera controls will remain on the right edge, in line with recent iPhone models.
Hopefully there will be no buttons on the left side of the device, resulting in a cleaner look. By shifting the volume buttons upward, Apple is able to streamline the profile of the device and potentially improve usability when the phone is folded or unfolded.
The iPhone Fold may also feature a small dynamic island, achieved by using a single punch-hole for the front-facing cameras. The device will not have Face ID, which is expected to help Apple keep the thickness under control.
iPhone Fold, here’s what we know
The iPhone Fold is expected to have a 7.8-inch crease-less inner display, which will likely be an OLED panel. The external screen is estimated to be a 5.5-inch panel, making it the smallest screen used in a modern iPhone.
Under the hood, the iPhone Fold may use the yet-to-be-announced A20 Pro chipset, which we’ll likely also see in the iPhone 18 Pro models. The device may come with a total of four cameras, two on the back and one on the display for selfies and video calls.
According to reports, the foldable iPhone could come with the largest battery ever fitted to an iPhone, with a capacity likely to exceed 5,500mAh.
iPhone Fold launch and expected price
The iPhone Fold is expected to launch alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in September 2026.
Reports suggest that the device may be priced at $2,400 (approximately Rs 2,15,000) in the US. For reference, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 price in India starts at Rs 1,74,999. Apart from the book-style iPhone Fold, the Cupertino giant is also rumored to be working on a ‘flip’ iPhone.
