iPhone 18 Air leaked, ultra-thin design expected to add dual cameras
Apple is reportedly planning a major camera upgrade for the second generation iPhone Air. Retaining its ultra-slim design, the iPhone Air 2 is likely to get a dual camera setup at the back.
The iPhone Air was launched in September this year as a new type of iPhone that focused entirely on slimness. The Air came with an ultra-slim design, which made it stand out from the iPhone 17 series. While sales of the Air have not lived up to expectations, Apple is apparently still planning a sequel, which is said to fix at least one glaring omission: adding a second camera to the mix.

According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the next-generation iPhone Air is expected to get a significant camera upgrade. Leaks indicate that Apple is planning to use a dual rear camera setup for the next iPhone Air, which may be called the iPhone 18 Air. The Cupertino giant is said to be evaluating adding a 48-megapixel ultrawide to the 48-megapixel main sensor. This change may inspire more buyers to purchase ultra-slim handsets, especially those interested in photography.
The leak shows a symbolic mockup of what the second-generation iPhone Air could look like with a dual camera setup. However this render should be taken with a pinch of salt, as it is only meant to indicate a possible design. The image shows an almost identical design to the original iPhone Air, but with a second lens in the camera module.
iPhone Air 2, here’s what we know
Apple may have reduced production of the iPhone Air due to low sales, but it seems the company is not ready to give up the ultra-slim form factor just yet. Unlike Samsung, which has reportedly canceled the Galaxy S26 Edge.
According to the leak, the next iPhone Air will continue to sport a 6.5-inch OLED display with ProMotion and FaceID support. The phone is also expected to retain its slim frame, although it is unclear whether there will be a change in thickness this time. The thickness of the iPhone Air was 5.6 mm.
The first leak also points to new A20 and A20 Pro chips being developed for the iPhone 18 range. If Apple follows its past patterns, the next iPhone Air may adopt the A20 Pro chipset, which will promise gains in performance and efficiency. The Air is expected to not have a physical SIM card slot like its current version.
iPhone Air 2 launch and expected price
Current expectations place the iPhone Air 2 in Apple’s 2026 lineup alongside the iPhone 18 Pro, 18 Pro Max, and Apple’s first foldable phone. Apple will likely launch these four devices in September 2026. The base iPhone 18 and the affordable iPhone 18e are expected to be released in early 2027.
Apple may keep the price of the second generation iPhone Air unchanged from this year. iPhone Air was launched in India for Rs 1,19,900.
