Every year, Apple holds a fall event to introduce its annual hardware products. And this year, it’s time for the company to reveal the iPhone 16 series. However, Apple is still shying away from showing glimpses of the upcoming smartphones. The tech giant is yet to announce the final date of the fall event. Since the announcement is taking too long, rumor has it that the event will take place on September 10. A recent report by Mark Gurman published in Bloomberg states that the company is eyeing September 10 as the event date. Apart from this, it has also been revealed that the iPhone 16 series will be on the shelves of retail stores on September 20.

iPhone 16 series: Everything we know

A few new generation products will be revealed at the Apple event, but the iPhone 16 series is expected to be the showstopper. The much-awaited iPhone 16 series has been in the headlines for its new structure both inside and outside. During WWDC 2024 that took place in June, it was speculated that the iPhone 16 series would be the first Apple smartphones to get the pre-installed iOS18 upgrade. And the Pro models will feature Apple Intelligence a little later in October.

The iPhone series is rumoured to bring 4 new models to the market – the standard variant, 16 Plus, 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max. The series is expected to be powered by the latest Apple A18 Pro chipset. Apart from the chipset, all the devices are quite different from each other. Let’s take a look at the leaked specs of all the devices.

iPhone 16: The base variant will get a design change. As per the leaks, Apple is ditching the diagonal camera lens set-up like the previous model. The company is apparently bringing back the rear panel of the iPhone 11, but with slight changes. The iPhone 16 model will have two-vertical camera lenses. The rear panel will have a capsule-shaped camera island. As per rumours, the iPhone 16 will come in 5 different colours: white, black, blue, green and pink.

However, the camera will be the same as the previous iPhone 15 models. The primary lens is expected to be a 48-megapixel camera with f/1.6 aperture and optical quality 2X telephoto capabilities. It is also expected to have a primary wide-angle lens with 1x and 2X zoom capabilities.

iPhone 16 Plus: Same specifications as the base variant, but bigger. Check out the rumoured sizes here.

The battery may also be slightly different. While the iPhone 16 series is expected to have better battery life, the iPhone 16 Plus may see a 9 percent reduction in battery capacity.

iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max: Just like the 16 and 16 Plus, the Pro and Pro Max models are also twins. The size will of course be different, but otherwise the specs are expected to be the same. Both models will have the same design as the Pro model right now, and there will be three cameras on the back panel. The iPhone 16 Pro model is expected to have a new color, Desert Titanium. According to rumors, it is very dark and has a matte texture.

The ultra-wide camera is expected to increase from 12-megapixels to 48-megapixels. Battery life could also be better than last year’s iPhone 15 Pro models.

Apple Event

While all eyes will be on the iPhone 16 series, Apple will also unveil the Apple Watch Series 10 and AirPods 4. The AirPods 4 are expected to have 2 variants, built to replace both the AipPods 2 and AirPods 3. The only difference between these two variants will be the ANC technology.

While all these details summarize what the Apple event and the iPhone 16 series bring to us, Apple is yet to reveal the exact details. Until then, we expect you to take this with a pinch of salt and stay tuned for the official announcement.
