iOS 19 with LLM Siri already postponed to April 2026: Report

Even before iOS 18 can deliver all its Apple Intelligence features, rumors about iOS 19 are already circulating. While many of the features are still secret, Apple is reportedly working on a smarter and more traditional Siri, called LLM Siri. sounds exciting? But you won’t be able to use it until spring 2026. The slow rollout should come as no surprise. Apple is late to the AI trend. Although the company has made a lot of plans, the time taken is also relatively long. Read how the competition is two steps ahead.

LLM Siri: Smarter and Better

Earlier, Gurman had reported that Apple is working on an enhanced Siri, which aims to compete with other major chatbots like ChatGPT. Since the revised Siri will use the Advanced Large Language Model, the project is currently named LLM Siri.

Apple is working on turning Siri into a more conversational and intelligent assistant. The goal is to enable Siri to engage in continuous conversations with users and respond in a more natural, human way. With the integration of larger language models, Siri will also be able to handle more complex tasks, which currently requires OpenAI’s ChatGPT in iOS 18.2.

According to the report, this feature will be released as part of the iOS 19.4 update.

iOS 19: Apple Intelligence Features

“I’m told that more features than usual scheduled for iOS 19 (beyond the new Siri) have already been postponed until spring 2026 (when iOS 19.4 will launch),” he wrote. He revealed that additional features have been “deferred” until iOS 19.4.

He did not provide any details about those other planned features.

Meanwhile, iOS 18.2 adds ChatGPT integration to Siri, and Gurman expects integration with Google’s Gemini in a later update. Apple previously confirmed that iOS 18.2 will be released to the public in December. And with iOS 18.4, Siri will get on-screen awareness, deeper per-app controls, and a few other enhancements, but it still won’t offer full-blown ChatGPT-like conversation capabilities.

Once the updated Siri is introduced, iPhone users will likely be less dependent on third-party services like ChatGPT and Gemini. However, iOS 19.4 is still over a year and a half away from being released, meaning there’s still plenty of time for this change to happen. Until then, users will continue to use external services for advanced AI interactions while waiting for Siri’s advanced capabilities in upcoming updates.
