Infinix Hot 50 5G

The Infinix Hot 50 5G is an entry-level smartphone with a starting price of Rs 9,999. However, the phone has some features that are usually found in phones with a higher price tag. It has a 7.8mm slim design, a big 6.7-inch display, and a 5000mAh battery. Under the hood, it is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 5G chipset. You can read our detailed review of the Infinix Hot 50 5G here. But to give you the gist of the review, here’s a quick summary in 5 points.

Infinix Hot 50 5G review in 5 points

Design and performance: The Infinix Hot 50 5G is one of the thinnest smartphones under Rs 10,000 thanks to its 7.8mm thickness. Usually, phones in this segment are thick so that they can offer long battery life. But Infinix has managed to offer a slim design despite packing a 5,000mAh battery. The back panel has a vertically-aligned dual-camera setup and a third auxiliary lens, which is usually used for macro shots. I am using the Sage Green variant, and it has a beautiful matte finish with a very subtle shine. It feels quite premium for a Rs 10,000 phone.

The smartphone sports a 6.7-inch HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It has an iPhone-like dynamic island – Infinix calls it Dynamic Bar. The display is smooth and bright enough to showcase vibrant colours. Overall, watching YouTube videos, scrolling through Instagram, and reading articles on the smartphone has been fun.

Display: The Infinix Hot 50 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 5G chipset, which comes with two RAM options: 4GB and 8GB. Running on XOS 14 based on Android 14, the device delivers a good experience. Although the chipset is old, the performance of the phone is good. However, the UI of the phone is not clean, and comes with excessive bloatware. We also put the Infinix Hot 50 5G under some benchmark tests. Read the detailed review to know the scores.

Battery: It has a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. Even with heavy usage, the phone’s battery lasts a full day. But its charging speed is slow. It took me about 2.5 hours to fully charge the device from 0 percent to 100 percent. The slow charging speed is good for the battery health, but it tests your patience.

Camera: The Infinix Hot 50 5G sports a 48-megapixel dual rear camera with over 12 camera modes. The camera is equipped with AI that helps in clicking Instagram-ready photos. The photos are a bit oversaturated but they still deliver near-accurate colours. The rear camera clicks beautiful pictures, especially in well-lit environments. However, the phone’s camera struggles with portrait mode. For selfies, the device has a 8-megapixel camera. Like most entry-level phones, the Infinix Hot 50 5G has a slow shutter speed. Here is a sample of photos clicked by the smartphone.

Verdict: At this price, the smartphone has a lot to offer. It looks premium, has a great display, has a largely lag-free performance, and delivers more than a day of battery life. We would definitely recommend the phone in this budget. However, if you still want to explore its alternatives, the Moto G45 5G is a good competitor.
