An Indian researcher studying at the University of Georgetown in the US has been arrested by immigration officers and according to his lawyer, face exile. Badar Khan Suri, the post -doctoral partner, was arrested by “masked agents” outside his house in Virginia on Monday night.

The agents recognized themselves as being with the Homeland Security Department and told them that the government has canceled its visa, allegedly sued.

Mr. Suri has been accused of “spreading Hamas Publicity”. He is said to have “a known or close ties with a known or suspected terrorist”.

Trisia McLaglin, Assistant Secretary, Homeland Security, wrote on X, “Suri was a foreign currency student at the University of Georgetpown, who actively spread the Hamas promotion and promoted antisementism on social media.”

“Suri has a close relationship with a known or suspected terrorist, a senior advisor to Hamas. The State Secretary issued a determination on March 15, 2025 that Suri’s activities and appearance in the United States exerted him under the INA section 237 (a) (4) (4) (c) (i).”
