Apple Inc. Has appointed Sabih Khan, an Indian original executive and the company’s internal formula as its new Chief Operating Officer, making Jeff Williams successful in a planned leadership transition. Khan, who has been with Apple for 30 years and currently acts as a senior vice -president of operation, will formally take a role at the end of this month.

Jeff Williams, who has taken over the post of COO since 2015, will continue to report to CEO Tim Cook and look after Apple Watch and Design Teams. Apple said that the design team would report to cook directly after Williams retire later this year.

Who is Sabih Khan?

Born in 1966 in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, Khan moved to Singapore during his school years before he was transferred to the United States. He has received a dual bachelor’s degree in economics and mechanical engineering from the University of Tufts and a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Rensaler Polytechnic Institute (RPI).

After starting his career in GE plastic, Khan joined Apple’s procurement team in 1995. Since then, she has played an important role in shaping Apple’s global supply chain, suppliers responsibility programs and overall operating strategy, which ensures the company’s spontaneous distribution of the most new products of the company.

Khan’s height comes at a time when India is playing an important role in the global strategy of both apples as a major market and as a growing center for manufacturing.
