In a UK first, a 34-year-old woman has died following a Brazilian butt lift procedure

Mother of five and beauty therapist Alice Delcie Prete Webb, 34, died following a non-surgical liquid Brazilian butt lift (BBL) procedure. MetroShe is believed to be the first person to die from the risky procedure in the UK. According to reports, Ms Webb was an advanced beauty therapist at Crystal Clear in Wotton-under-Edge, a market town in Gloucestershire. Ms Webb is survived by her partner Dan Knight and their five children – Delsie, 15, Preete, 13, Gracie, 12, Naylee, 10, and Clary, 7.

A police investigation was launched following her death and Gloucestershire Police arrested two men on suspicion of murder. Although they have been released on bail, the incident raises serious concerns about the risks of unregulated cosmetic procedures.

A Gloucester Police spokesperson said: “Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a woman in her 30s in Gloucester. At around 11.35pm on Monday (September 23) the ambulance service called police to report a woman had become unwell following a suspicious cosmetic procedure. She was taken to Gloucester Royal Hospital and died in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Her family and the coroner are aware. The woman’s family are being supported by specially trained officers. The investigation, led by the Major Crime Investigation Team, is ongoing.”

The procedure involves injecting hyaluronic acid and dermal fillers into the buttocks, which was reportedly carried out by an unqualified person with no medical training. The Liquid BBL procedure typically costs around £2,500 and takes around 60 minutes. However, its non-surgical nature can be deceptive, as it still carries considerable risk, especially when carried out by unqualified practitioners.

About the Liquid Brazilian Butt Lift

The Liquid Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) differs from traditional BBL, which involves fat grafting. Instead, Liquid BBL uses injectable products for volumizing and contouring, making it a less invasive procedure and does not require liposuction or fat transfer. This results in a faster recovery time. However, Liquid BBL results are temporary, lasting about one to two years, depending on the product used and how it is metabolized by the body.

In contrast, traditional BBL provides more long-lasting results, although it costs more, ranging from £5,000-£6,000 in the UK, and the procedure time is around two hours. Liquid BBL, on the other hand, typically costs £2,500 and takes around 60 minutes to complete. Despite being marketed as a “risk-free” and “cheaper” option, liquid BBL carries risks, especially when performed by unqualified practitioners. Some individuals opt to have the procedure in Turkey, where it is available at a lower cost.
