Director Aditya Kripalani shares why a film like ‘I’m Not an Actor’ matters and what message he wants to convey to the audience from the film. He expressed that there is no time in human history when we need human connections more than now. For this we have to accept the other person as he is.
Starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Chitrangada Satrupa, the film tells the story of how a retired banker in Frankfurt connects with a struggling actor in Mumbai over a video call.
in an interview with India TodayAditya said, “I think we need human connection very deeply. There is no time in human history when we need human connection more than now. We are slowly losing that connection. When we moved from villages to cities, we lost that connection. When we moved from cities to screen connections, we lost that connection even more.”
“I think we need that connection very deeply. What we take from this film is that we need it. To fulfill that need, we have to accept the person as they are. We can’t move forward with what we want. Every human being is a mixed bag. Only then can we reach that deeper level of connection.”
Earlier, Nawazuddin had described ‘I am not an actor’ as his unique film. he told India Today“The character of Adnan is very different from other characters because I am playing the character of a retired man. The experience of age which I did not have, I have acquired through this character through Aditya’s film.”
He said, “It is said that one of the good things about being an actor is that we are lucky because we live multiple lives in one life. I didn’t know how a retired person’s life would be. But through this film, I came to know what kind of anxiety, depression and other things come to the mind after retirement. So, this experience was amazing for me as an actor.”
‘I’m Not an Actor’ is scheduled to release in the UK on November 7. Its release date in India has not been announced yet.
