Svetlana Grkovic was flying from Greece to Germany when a window broke, sending a man sitting nearby flying. Half of his body was outside the window, although he was wearing a seat belt. But Ljubisa Karovic’s wife grabbed his legs and said: “If we die, we will die together”. The incident happened a few days ago on Ryanair flight FR1879, which was flying from Thessaloniki, Greece, to Memmingen, near Munich, Germany, on Friday. It was operated by Malta Air, a subsidiary of the budget airline.The flight remained airborne for just over an hour and reached 16,000 feet before returning to Thessaloniki Airport.The husband was outside up to his chest for two minutes.Grekovich said that with the help of two passengers she was able to pull her husband, who had fainted three times, back inside the plane. He said due to low cabin pressure, many people left their seats and went to other parts of the plane for safety.Passengers told local media that Karovic had kept his seat belt on and helped people on board hold him down, while his upper torso was outside the plane’s slipstream.The shock of the incident is very big. The husband is undergoing treatment in the hospital. The wife said, “It’s important to me that he’s alive.” “His hand is particularly badly injured, and he has burns. He is not able to communicate; he does not remember the entire incident.”He further said, “Some people came to help me, I remember one man and one woman.” “That man helped me a lot, Ljubisa and me. I think he was Albanian, thank you very much. I didn’t remember his name, I don’t even know if he told me or not. I would like to meet him, thank him again in person.”A Ryanair spokesperson said: “On Friday morning a Ryanair flight from Thessaloniki to Memmingen returned to Thessaloniki shortly after takeoff when a passenger’s window was dislocated. The aircraft landed normally and passengers returned to the terminal. One passenger requested and received medical assistance on the ground in Thessaloniki. To minimize any delays, a replacement aircraft was arranged to bring the passengers to Memmingen.“
