Idli Kadai starring Dhanush in the lead role was released in theaters on 1 October, 2025. The family drama was written and directed by Dhanush, Nithya Menon, Arun Vijay, Rajkaran and others are also included in brilliant roles.

Plot

Idli presents the story of Kadai Murugan, a young man, whose parents run a small famous Idli shop in their village. Humble, coming from the beginning, makes Murugan career in catering and works in Vishnu Vardhan’s magnificent hotel series.

Amidst her hard work, Murugan fell in love with Vishnu Vardhan’s daughter Meera and decided to marry her. However, his life takes a dramatic turn when his father passes. Even though he does not want to cancel his marriage, he decides to return to his hometown despite hazards from his fiancée family.

In a hot moment, Murugan stopped her marriage and left her village behind. Once back, he decides to follow his father’s footsteps and run his idli shop. But Meera’s brother Ashwin is standing in his way to avenge his family’s public image.

What happens to Murugan and how his rivalry with Ashwin affects the Idli shop, makes the story of the story.

Good

The greatest strength of Idli Kadai is a simple and innocent relationship between Dhanush’s Murugan and his father (played by Rajkran). Both actors are known for their powerhouse performance, and the film depends a lot on their ability to give heart -wrenching moments.

Although the story struggles to maintain its original intention, the film increases with impressive performance from the lead actors. As the film moves forward, the bow creates a balance between portraying a timid character and stepping into a hero’s shoes in a classic good vs. evil story.

On the technical front, Idli Kadai has some beautiful soundtrack composed by GV Prakash Kumar. The intimacy of songs and scores is well mixed in the story, providing a fresh experience with biological music rather than a track designed for viral social media appeal.

Additionally, production design, cinematography and editing are worth special praise.

Idli Kadai has been filled with clitch from the beginning. As a personal journey of self-identity that begins and returns to someone’s roots, gradually develops in a common good versus wicked conflict, which lacks reliable development.

As a result, many characters in Idli Kadai come as artificial with feelings of staging. The screenplay is brand and unwanted, making it difficult for the audience to connect with the characters. Careless writing and stale treatments force a viewer to rub their forehead several times, making it a tired watch.

Execution by director Dhanush is best, even though it is an improvement on this dirt that Neelvuku Anmel Annadi Kobam (Nik), but the bar remains very low.

Display

Idli Kadai has performed a strong performance by dressed artists led by Dhanush. While Ryan actor holds the story together and prevents it from breaking, experienced actor Rajkaran protects such a fine and layered illustration.

With an intensive and impressive performance as a major antagonist by Arun Vijay, Nithya Menen performs a solid work as a female lead, which increases the attraction. In addition, Shalini Pandey also has a commendable impact despite her limited screen.
