Known for his versatility, Thakur said that while other actors who played kidnappers in the series had read a lot to understand the historical context, he relied a lot on the guidance given to him on the set. “When I met other actors who played kidnappers, they had read the books. I am thankful that Anubhav Sinha sir, the associate director and the writers explained my character to me,” he said.

Despite the lack of preparation, Thakur’s performance has received praise from audiences and peers alike. “When one does good work, it can’t be suppressed. I have received very good responses for my role. My friends and Insta followers have been sending me messages. Some said I was unrecognisable,” Thakur said, reflecting on the positive response she has received.

Directed by Anubhav Sinha, ‘IC 814’ is a dramatised story of the hijacking of Indian Airlines flight IC-814 in 1999. It is based on the book ‘Flight Into Fear: The Captain’s Story’ written by journalist Srinjoy Chowdhury and the captain of the hijacked plane, Devi Sharan.
