Trisha Krishnan pays tribute to S Janaki with 96 unseen pictures and a personal note. Fans also revisited the singer’s warm cameo in the film as her death sparked an outpouring of affection.

A day after the demise of legendary playback singer S Janaki, actress Trisha Krishnan remembered her with an emotional note and a collection of unseen pictures from the sets of the hit Tamil film. 96. For Trisha, who played Janaki Devi, fondly called Jaanu, in the acclaimed film, the tribute was deeply personal.
Sharing pictures on social media, Trisha reflected on meeting the legendary singer during the making of the 2018 romantic drama. The pictures capture warm moments between the two, in which Trisha, dressed in her signature yellow kurta and blue dupatta from the film, is seen hugging S Janaki and posing with him.
The actor revealed that getting the opportunity to play a character named Janaki Amma is one of the biggest honors of his career.
She wrote, “Having your name in one of my most special films will always be one of the greatest honors of my life. But knowing you and loving you is something I will always cherish.”
Remembering the singer’s warmth and humility, Trisha said, “Thank you for your embrace, your kindness, your laughter and for always reminding me that the greatest artists are the humblest of souls. Your voice will live on forever.”
She concluded the note with a final farewell: “Rest in peace, Janaki Amma. I will miss you dearly.”

S Janaki, popularly known as the Nightingale of the South, recorded thousands of songs in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali and Oriya, apart from English, Japanese, German and Sinhala songs.
The veteran singer died of a heart attack on July 11. She was 88 years old.
