Producer Ekta Kapoor admitted that she was stunned when Akshay Kumar refunded her fees after one of her films did poorly. Was speaking at the trailer launch of ghost banglaKapoor revealed that the actor had personally called him and returned a cheque, saying it was to compensate him for his losses.

Recalling the moment, Kapoor said, “I was shocked.” He said he had never faced such behavior in more than three decades as a producer. According to him, Kumar’s action was both unexpected and rare in the film industry, where financial risks are usually taken by producers.

What did Akshay Kumar do after all?

Kapoor shared that the incident happened after their previous collaboration failed at the box office. Without naming the film, he revealed that Kumar reached out to him directly. “They gave me a check and said this is the money back for you, you have lost the money,” he said, highlighting that no other actor has done this in his 31-year career.

However, Kapoor rejected the offer and instead asked her to work with him again. That request, he said, ultimately led to Bhoot Bangla.

Why did Ekta Kapoor refuse to give money?

Rather than accept the cheque, Kapoor said she saw more value in continuing her professional engagements. He told Kumar that future cooperation would be more beneficial than refund. It seems that this decision has paid off, and now the two are reuniting for the upcoming film.

The episode also underlined Kapoor’s long-standing desire to collaborate with Kumar again, which finally materialized with Bhoot Bangla.

What is Bhoot Bangla about?

Directed by Priyadarshan, ghost bangla The film marks the reunion between the producer and Kumar after many years. The horror-comedy revolves around a man who inherits a bungalow, but later discovers that the bungalow and the surrounding forest are haunted. Her decision to get married in a village plagued by the fear of a mysterious entity named Vadhusur leads to a series of chaotic events.

The film includes actors like Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Tabu and Vamika Gabbi. Kumar and Priyadarshan have previously collaborated on popular titles like Hera Pheri, Bhool Bhulaiyaa and Garam Masala.

Produced by Kumar along with Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor, the film was earlier scheduled to release on April 10, but has now been postponed. It will hit theaters on April 17, with paid previews starting on the evening of April 16.
