‘I wanted to see that…’: Lainey Wilson reveals why she kept her romance with Devlin Hodges a secret for 2 years

Yellowstone star Lainey Wilson recently opened up about her secret relationship and why she isn’t engaged to her boyfriend yet.

During her appearance on Taste of Country Nights, an on-demand radio show, she talked about the joy of sharing more of her private life with her fans. After keeping her relationship with Devlin “Duck” Hodges a secret, she said she was checking in to see if she was ready to be with him. She then added, “He’s not going anywhere and I’m not getting rid of him just yet.”

The country singer made their relationship public by bringing Hodges as her date to the ACM Awards in May 2023. She soon revealed that she had been secretly dating him for over 2.5 years. On the Bobby Bones Show, she revealed that she sings all of her songs to him before she sings them to anyone else. The NFL quarterback has heard everything, even the unreleased love songs he wrote for her.

Lainey Wilson also revealed her plans with her boyfriend. She clarified that the two are not engaged and joked that she might have to propose. She added, “I think the engagement should happen at a time in our lives when we have time to enjoy it. Right now, it’s too early.” After making their red carpet debut at the ACM Awards, the couple has attended several award shows together.

In an interview with Fox News Digital at the CMT Music Awards this April, the singer explained how happy she feels when she is with her boyfriend. She said that he was her biggest cheerleader and he was someone who would give a high-five every now and then.

On the music front, Wilson’s track, Out of Oklahoma, was featured in Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar Jones’ latest film, Twisters. On the other hand, his album, Whirlwind, contains music perfect for cross-country road trips and dive bars. Earlier this year, he opened Bell Bottoms Up, a three-story bar, Cajun restaurant and music venue in downtown Nashville.
