‘I didn’t know who I was’: Miley Cyrus reveals she couldn’t drive for 3 days after taking her mother’s medication

During a recent appearance on My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman, Disney alum Miley Cyrus discussed her relationship with her mother. The singer recalled an incident when she couldn’t drive for several days after her mother, Tish Cyrus, took “the tiniest puff” of marijuana. Surely, she learned a lesson there!

Miley Cyrus opens up about her experience with a powerful drug

Miley Cyrus has been open about her relationship with her parents: she and her mother, Tish Cyrus, have a close bond, but her relationship with her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, has been more turbulent.

In a recent interview, Miley discussed her journey to sobriety after abusing drugs and alcohol for several years. She highlighted that marijuana, specifically the type her mother uses, has become something she actively stays away from.

She said that she would occasionally take a small puff of the marijuana made by her mother, but would never do so because it was too strong. She said that her mother’s marijuana had an effect on others as well.

Miley claimed, “It turns out Wiz Khalifa had panic attacks from my mom’s weed because it was so strong.” She then recalled what she herself had to experience, which was even more terrifying. According to ET, Miley said:

“I don’t smoke my mom’s weed anymore. The last time I smoked her weed was a couple of weeks ago, and I walked up and took one small puff, and I couldn’t drive for three days, and I didn’t know who I was.”

Though she now abstains from it, Miley admitted that she introduced her mother to marijuana to help her deal with anxiety while on tour.

Reflecting on her mother’s initial reaction, Miley explained, “She said, ‘OK, but don’t tell anybody because I’m a good Christian woman.’ But she loved it. She had a great time, and she’s smoked weed ever since.”

Tish, who appeared on Letterman’s show, agreed with Miley’s story, saying that honestly she thinks her biggest fear was moving out of the Flowers singer’s house. “She definitely had the financial means to move out before she was 18. Usually a lot of kids in Hollywood do that, but she didn’t.”

Tish added, “I think I really pick my battles with her.” When asked if she would ever try her mother’s cannabis again, Miley admitted, “Usually, I pretend to be cool for my mom.”

Miley Cyrus prefers quality over quantity when it comes to friendships

In a recent chat with David Letterman, Cyrus made a surprising revelation: she doesn’t often mingle with celebrities. Instead, she values the quality of her friendships rather than the quantity.

Cyrus candidly mentioned that she is not a very active part of her community of other artists, entertainers, and celebrities. She doesn’t find that environment appealing, as she said, “I don’t feel like I’m with my people when I’m in that room.” Despite this, there are some exceptions in her life. “But there are some artists,” she added. “Like Beyoncé — who, like us, we’ve known each other for a long time.”

Recalling a memorable moment from her teenage years, Cyrus explained how, at 15, she performed with Beyoncé and all the girls and she was in between Rihanna and Queen Bey and they were, like, “totally grown up, beautiful, probably the same age as me, taller than me, totally amazing.”

Since then, Cyrus revealed that she and Beyoncé have developed a stronger bond than other women in the music industry. “Kindness and consistency is everything,” she stressed. “So I’m part of my community in that way, but, again, it’s all quality, not quantity. I’m not very active in it.”

During the episode, Cyrus also discussed her strained relationship with her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, following his recent filing for divorce from his wife of seven months, Firerose.
