Director Shankar is gearing up for the release of Game Changer starring Ram Charan and Kiara Advani in the lead roles. Ahead of the film’s release on January 10, 2025, the director talked about the negative impact it was having on Indian 2 and how he is confident about his upcoming films.

In his interview with Vikatan, Shankar talked about the negative impact it had on him after the release of his last film, Indian 2. The director confessed, “I didn’t expect so many negative reviews for Indian 2, but it’s okay I’m a game changer now and trying to do better with Indian 3.”

The director is confident that he will do well with Game Changer and Indian 2’s sequel Indian 3. Furthermore, the director also confirmed that the third sequel of the film will be released in theaters first. This comes at a time when there is talk of the Kamal Haasan starrer film releasing directly on OTT.

For those unaware, Indian 2 was the sequel to Shankar and Haasan’s 1996 cult classic flick Indian. The story focuses on the return of a former freedom fighter and old vigilante who wants to rid India of its corruption and improve the lives of the masses.

Talking about his cinematic venture with Ram Charan, Shankar said, “I am completely satisfied with the way Game Changer has turned out. For Charan, this is the role of a lifetime. It will be a great film with a great script.”

The director also revealed that the film will be purely a commercial venture, with the basic plot based on the rivalry between an IAS officer played by Charan and a politician played by SJ Suryah.

Starring Ram Charan and Kiara Advani in the lead roles, the film Game Changer is based on a story narrated by Karthik Subbaraj. The political action drama focuses on a noble IAS officer who sets out to take on the corrupt political system.

Apart from the lead actors, the film also stars SJ Suryah, Srikanth, Anjali, Samuthirakani, Jayaram and many others in lead roles. Since the film is releasing for Sankranti next year, the makers are set to release the fourth single of the film, Dhoop, in India on December 22, 2024 at 8 am.
