Prakash Raj confirms his role in SS Rajamouli’s mythological film, Varanasi. The actor has added star power to the film, which stars Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead roles.

Prakash Raj confirms that he is a part of SS Rajamouli’s ambitious project VaranasiThe recent discussion regarding the line-up of his films has added clarity. The actor revealed that he has already completed a few schedules of the big budget production.
Speaking at an event recently, Prakash Raj shared information about his role and said, “I am working in Rajamouli’s film Varanasi. I am playing the role of a Mahashiv devotee in the film. Industry reports also suggest that he could be seen playing the role of the father of the lead character played by Mahesh Babu, although there is no official confirmation on this news.
It was initially reported that the role would be played by Rajat Kapoor, but reports indicated that Kapoor left the project due to creative differences, following which Prakash Raj was brought on board.
Directed by SS Rajamouli, Varanasi It has been billed as a large-scale mythological action drama. The film also stars Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran in lead roles. The director recently revealed that around 50 percent of the shooting has been completed, with the team aiming to wrap up the production before August this year. The film is currently scheduled for theatrical release on April 7, 2027.
