Actor Hugh Jackman is reportedly trying to make peace with ex-wife Deborra-Lee Furness by accepting blame for the breakdown of their marriage. His effort comes ahead of his daughter Ava’s 21st birthday, as the actor hopes the family can celebrate the occasion together.

RadarOnline reports that Jackman is ready to accept responsibility for the divorce and has stated that he did not mean to hurt Furness. According to the outlet, a source said, “He is willing to take full responsibility for his part in the breakdown of their marriage. Hugh never intended to hurt Deb.”

While the former couple may have celebrated 30 years of marriage on April 11, it’s their daughter Ava Jackman’s 21st birthday that the actor is desperate to reconcile. Both of them also have a 25-year-old son, Oscar.

The report quoted a source as saying, “Ava will turn 21 in July and Hugh wants them all to celebrate this moment together. That’s why he’s really pushing to work things out with Deb.”

The report states, “He wants to be heard, and his hope is that she’ll be able to take her part in things, too. But if Deb still isn’t there, Hugh says he doesn’t mind continuing to bear the brunt of the blame if it means they can get some peace.”

Rumors have swirled that the pair’s decades-long relationship broke down in 2023 after he became inappropriately close to young Broadway costar Sutton Foster.

Furness, 70, confirmed the scandalous affair when she filed for divorce in May 2025 — four months after the Missing Links actor, 57, and the Bunheads star, 51, went public with their forbidden offstage romance.
