Huawei Pura

Huawei is an early mover in foldable phone technology and has been experimenting with new form factors like the Pura X – the so-called wide foldable. It is an intermediate size between a flip and a book-style foldable. But what if x becomes bigger? Today the company answers that question.

Huawei Pura X Max

Huawei Pura Below you can see how it compares to the original Max is a new generation folding design that is very thin.

However, while the original Pura external display (1,848 x 1,264px) has almost the same aspect ratio. Both displays are 1,440Hz 1-120Hz LTPO 2.0 panels with high-frequency PWM dimming.

As revealed in the teaser, the Huawei Pura X Max supports a stylus, the Huawei M-Pen 3 Mini. It’s “mini” because it has to match the low height of this form factor. The stylus is paired with a specially designed case. There’s also a case with a magnetic flip-out stand.

The larger model also has a larger battery with a 5,300mAh capacity, up from 4,720mAh on the X. The new phone supports 66W wired and 50W wireless SuperCharge.

The Huawei Pura X Max is powered by the Kirin 9030 Pro chipset. It promises 30% better performance than the X’s Kirin 9020 chip. The chipset is cooled by a combination of a vapor chamber and graphene sheets. As you probably know, Huawei no longer uses Android, instead you get HarmonyOS 6.1 out of the box.

The frame of the X Max is made of aluminum alloy. It also has more advanced dust and water resistance, going from just IPX8 (no dust resistance) on the X to IP58/IP59 (protected against dust, submersion and resistant against high-temperature water jets). The outer screen is protected by second-generation Kunlun Glass.

The main camera features a 50MP sensor with an OIS-enabled lens with variable aperture (f/1.4-4.0). Then there’s a 50MP periscope with an f/2.2 lens and OIS, as well as a 12.5MP ultra-wide (f/2.2). All three cameras use RYYB sensors with yellow sub-pixels instead of green. Two 8MP selfie cameras are also available, one on each display. They will be mainly for video calls – you can take selfies with the main camera when you want the best quality.

The cameras use Huawei’s in-house XMAGE image processing, helped along by the second-generation color sensor.

It is an upgrade from the Pura The extra resolution will help when zooming in.
