Over the past few years, Kanye West, who currently goes by the name Ye, has been facing a lot of criticism due to his anti-Semitic comments, and has been making headlines for the wrong reasons. However, amidst all this, he has recently released his most-awaited album Vulture 2, which references divorce and co-parenting with Kim Kardashian.

A few months after the release of the original album Vulture 1 in February this year, the rapper and Ty Dolla $ign released their second collaboration, Vulture 2, last weekend. Here’s a look at fan speculation about the references he made to his partial marital issues with Kardashian:

Ye described the past year as “weird” in his song “530,” which appears to be a reflection of co-parenting with Kardashian. They have four children from their six-year marriage: North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm.

The lyrics say, “Last year was a weird time / Meeting up on FaceTime / And who’s gonna break whose heart first? It’s always me that gets broken.” He continues to rap, “Looking for the blessings that God gave me / I’m just tryin’ to raise a family, somebody’s gotta raise the nanny.”

Ye talks about an unnamed man who has “been without a man for too long” in a separate song titled Husband. He repeatedly sings that said man needs a husband and then he makes a clear reference to Kardashian’s home in Beverly Hills. “The neighbors know it’s all getting out of hand, but they smile / ‘Cause you’ve been without a man for too long / And it won’t be long till you’re out of the band / All you really need is a husband,” he raps.

He continues to sing, “There’s a plan for Lust, there’s a plan for Beverly Hills / You know where they are / You know where they are, Beverly Hills. I really don’t want to go back to that.” In another song with Lil Wayne called Lifestyle, he repeats some of the above-mentioned lyrics.

Ye and Kardashian married in 2014 and troubles in their marriage began years before she filed for divorce in 2021. Their relationship was badly damaged by West’s unpredictable behavior in 2016, which was made worse by the rapper’s vocal support of former President Donald Trump and numerous divisive comments.

In 2020, Kardashian made her first public comments about Ye’s bipolar diagnosis, pleading for understanding and empathy as the family struggles. Divorce rumors intensified in early 2021; despite Kardashian’s reported efforts to save the marriage, by February, the SKIMS founder had filed for divorce. In November 2022, their divorce was finalized.

Months after going public with her new relationship with Pete Davidson, the rapper attacked her online. In multiple social media posts, Ye continued to refer to Kim as his “wife” and, at one point, even rejected her request to be granted legal single status.

Ye also sent Davidson a number of harsh messages, followed by a disturbing music video in which he kidnapped the comedian, beheaded him, and buried him alive.
