Dennis Quaid, star of The Parent Trap and Reign, recently opened up about his marriage to actress Meg Ryan during an interview with Chris Wallace. Despite their separation 20 years ago, Quaid shared his thoughts about their relationship and the positive outcome of their union.
Effect of fame on their relationship
Quaid revealed that fame may have played a role in the challenges of their relationship. In the interview, he admitted that Ryan’s career boom coincided with his own struggles. “When I met Meg, I was here, and she was here,” Quaid said, using hand gestures to explain the direction of his career. He further admitted that her rising fame and her time in rehab created a dynamic he struggled with: “I try to be the bigger person and tell myself it doesn’t bother me, but people are people.”
A positive reflection of the time you spent with them
Despite the challenges, Quaid has no regrets about his marriage to Ryan. He praised her for her talent and success, saying, “Meg is a really great, lovely person, and really talented, and she deserves all of her success.” More importantly, Quaid considers their son, Jack Quaid, to be the greatest achievement of their relationship. Jack has since gone on to have a successful career in Hollywood, starring in hit projects such as The Boys and Star Trek: Lower Decks.
Looking back, Quaid has no bad feelings and appreciates the lasting legacy of their union — especially their son Jack. Though the two have moved on — Quaid with his current wife, Laura Savoie, and Ryan focusing on his career — their past remains an important chapter in their lives.
