Honor today introduced two new Android tablets during an event that also unveiled the Magic V3 and Magic VS3 foldable.
The first tablet is the MagicPad 2, which has a 12.3-inch OLED screen and Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset. The second is the Pad 9 Pro, a Dimensity 8100-powered tablet for remote learning.
Honor MagicPad 2
The MagicPad 2 uses an OLED panel, which is an improvement over the LCD on its predecessor, the MagicPad 13. The 10-bit panel supports a 144 Hz refresh rate, a resolution of 3,000 x 1,920 pixels (that’s 290 ppi), and a maximum brightness of 1,600 nits.
Honor says the PWM dimming is 4,320Hz, and the panel is certified by TUV Rheinland to protect the eyes from flickering and blue light.
The tablet is just 5.8mm thin and has a smaller size than the first MagicPad, but Honor has packed in a 10,050mAh battery with support for 66W wired charging. The company has also kept a 13MP main camera and a 9MP front-facing shooter.
The MagicPad 2 comes with Android 14-based MagicOS 8.0, and has several AI features powered by a Qualcomm chipset. Multitasking gets some additional features and you get recognition for handwritten formulas, handwriting, geometric shapes, and object recognition.
The tablet has support for Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 6 and the latest stylus, the Magic Pen 3. It has eight speakers and is also certified by IMAX Enhanced Audio and Video. However, there is no cellular connectivity version.
Honor MagicPad 2
The Honor MagicPad 2 is available in white, black and cyan. Memory options are 8/256 GB, 12/256 GB, 16/512 GB and a powerful 16 GB + 1 TB variant. Prices start at CNY2,899 ($400/€367) and go up to CNY4,199 ($580/€530).
This tablet is available for pre-order on Honor China online store. Its sale will start exactly seven days later i.e. from July 19.
Honor Pad 9 Pro
The Honor Pad series is aimed at people of all age groups who are looking for a budget-oriented solution to help them learn and study on the go.
The Pad 9 Pro has a brighter and sharper screen than the Pad 9. It’s still a 12.1-inch LCD, but now has a 144Hz refresh rate and 2.5K resolution, which is 2,560 x 1,600 pixels.
Interestingly, Honor offers the Pad 9 Pro with two different displays – one is a regular LCD, and the other has a coating on top that protects against blue light and flicker.
Compared to its 12.1” predecessor, the Pad 9 Pro has gotten smaller in size, which means the bezels have gotten thinner. Most importantly, the battery capacity has grown by about 20% to 10,050 mAh.
The MediaTek chipset is paired with 8 or 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The tablet comes with Magic OS 8.0.
The Honor Pad 9 Pro supports the new Honor Magic Pen 3 stylus and gets an optional keyboard accessory.
Honor Pad 9 Pro
The Honor Pad 9 Pro is already available for purchase. It comes in grey or blue and starts at CNY2,199 ($300/€280); however, the variant with a protective screen is CNY200 ($27/€25) extra. The company launched the last two Pad tablets internationally, and we expect this one to sell globally as well.
