Today we’re unboxing a very special phone – the slate gray Honor Magic8 RSR Porsche Design.
This is the latest in a series of Honor smartphone collaborations with Porsche, and it follows in the same footsteps – you get a maxed-out version of Honor’s current flagship, give it a dash of Porsche design, and make the retail package excellent.

Talking of things, you get a 120W charger, a slim, vegan leather-clad case, a braided USB-A to USB-C cable, and a Porsche-themed SIM tool.

Porsche doesn’t settle for less than the best, so this Magic8 RSR has 1TB of storage and 24GB of RAM of the latest LPDDR5X variety. Of course, you’ll also get the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
You also get a full-on 7,200mAh battery reserved for the Chinese market. But this also brings us to one of the few shortcomings of the Magic8 RSR Porsche Design – not only is it much more expensive (about CNY 8,000-9,000), it’s also a China-exclusive phone. So look carefully friends, you may never see this phone again.
Wealthy Chinese buyers, on the other hand, will get the chance to enjoy satellite communications. It also has the facility of both biometric finger and face scanning.
The Magic8 RSR has a Porsche design In the name for some reason. The 911 Carrera inspired the phone’s look, and features the classic Porsche flying line that slopes from the camera island and across the bottom of the phone’s panel.
The back panel is made of ceramic, which feels more premium than glass and is also generally harder to scratch. The surface is beautiful to look at, but easily stains, so you may need to purchase extremely expensive cleaning cloths to keep it clean.
Honor claims that the rear panel features a special 3D-textured surface, which is intended to look and feel like automotive paint. It also improves grip, which is really excellent.

So, what hasn’t changed? The screen is still the same, an excellent 6.71-inch 120Hz LTPO OLED panel with a 2,808×1,256px resolution and 6,000 nits peak brightness. The camera system is also the same – 50MP main, 50MP ultrawide and 200MP zoom cameras, as well as a 50MP selfie shooter. You also get the same 120W wired and 80W wireless charging.
