Homebound cinematographer Pratik Shah apologizes over sexual misconduct allegations
Homebound cinematographer Prateek Shah has apologized for the online allegations of sexual misconduct and emotional abuse leveled against him last year. His statement comes after months of fallout, including alleged removal from projects and final credits.

Cinematographer Prateek Shah, known for his work on director Neeraj Ghaywan’s film homebound (2025) and directed by Vikramaditya Motwane jubilee (2023), and CTRL (2024), has apologized after multiple women accused him of sexual misconduct and emotional abuse last year. Following the allegations, his name was reportedly removed from several projects.
in an interview with hollywood reporterShah admitted that he was deeply remorseful for his actions and the hurt he caused in both professional and personal relationships. He said he had been in therapy for over a year and had also achieved sustained sobriety for over a year as part of his rehabilitation.

Addressing the allegations, the cinematographer said, “I want to address the online allegations made against me last year. I deeply repent for the mistakes I made and the hurt I caused, both in my professional relationships and in my past personal relationships.”
“Looking back, I realize that I let the increased attention and growth in my career cloud my judgment, resulting in actions that were self-centered and wrong. I acted out of insecurity and a misguided craving for recognition, and I regret that I did not stop to consider the power I held as a person of privilege and influence.” He added.
Shah revealed that he quickly realized that “arguing will not change the reality of his actions”. While acknowledging that his broken reputation and relationships were a direct result of his missteps, he stressed that he should acknowledge the “embarrassment and pain” he caused his family, friends and professional partners.
Shah highlighted that he spent more than a year in therapy to address the root causes of his behavior. Confirming that he has also achieved “over a year of sustained sobriety” as part of his rehabilitation, he acknowledged that these steps do not clear him of his past actions. Expressing true grief and shame, he concluded that he is “committed to learning from his failures” and working to rebuild confidence through his future choices.
The allegations against Shah were first made by filmmaker Abhinav Singh on the basis of the testimony of more than 20 women. The allegations included inappropriate and emotionally abusive behavior, demanding nudity and sending unwanted explicit messages. Following the allegations, Shah was dropped from Sourav Ganguly’s biopic led by actor Rajkummar Rao. Bapu. He also shot for Yash Raj Films’ upcoming web series AkkaBut reportedly the production house decided to remove his name from the end credits.
Shah’s last theatrical release, homebound Actors Ishaan Khattar, Vishal Jethwa and Janhvi Kapoor were in lead roles.
