Hindi Movies Single Day Box Office Collection Benchmark: Dhurandhar The Revenge at first position. 100 crore net

Dhurandhar: The Revenge (Hindi) collected Rs. Yesterday, on the fourth day of its release, the film earned around Rs 101 crore. With this, the Ranveer Singh starrer has become the first Hindi film to reach the triple-digit benchmark. Earlier, the film had also cleared a collection of Rs 10 crore. 80 crores and Rs. 90 crore benchmark on Saturday. It earned Rs. Attacked. 100 crores in all versions, but missed by a slight margin only in Hindi. It completed the work on Sunday and registered its name in history.

Looking back, it was Ghajini that first raised Rs. Earned 10 crores in a single day, did so on the second day of release. Dabangg gets Rs. It took two years to cross. Earning of Rs 15 crore on the second day also. This is approximately Rs. 20 crores on the third day too, which Salman Khan himself crossed with Bodyguard the next year and then Rs. 25 crores and Rs. In 2012, Ek Tha Tiger earned Rs 30 crores. This was a period of rapid growth in the initial business, as with the digital and multiplex revolution, the size of releases was becoming larger month by month. From 2008 to 2013, the size of releases nearly tripled within five years.

Screen growth slowed a bit after that. There was also some decline in early business in late 2010 and post-COVID. Yet with the increase in ticket prices and reduction in taxation, Rs. War had crossed Rs 50 crore earning on its opening day in 2019. After that, Rs. 60 crores and Rs. Pathan and Jawan did a net business of Rs 70 crore in 2023.

Now, Dhurandhar: The Revenge has taken another big jump earning Rs. Rs 80 crores. 90 crores and Rs. Rs 100 crore at one go. The benchmark perhaps came a little sooner than expected for normal progress. This has been helped by extraordinary ticket price increases, which are typically about 15 percent higher than tentpole releases. Having said that, the film has a runtime of around 4 hours, which limits its showing to four a day on most screens. Although the film has been released very widely, due to an empty market, it still faces capacity constraints in major centres. With a conventional run time, the film probably could have gone a step higher.

Ramayana Part One will be released at the end of this year, which is considered to be the biggest film of recent times. Dhurandhar: The Revenge has set the bar high for that film. The price of the film will probably be similar to that of Dhurandhar, if not even more. It may also perform better in smaller centres, which were not as big for Dhurandhar given the extent of its appeal. If it comes with a shorter duration, there is a very good chance that this film will reach some new benchmark, however, given its epic scale, a longer duration seems likely, though hopefully it won’t stretch beyond four hours.
