Henry Cavill made his big jump from DC to Marvel with his cameos in Deadpool and Wolverine. The British actor went from the Man of Steel to Cavillrin – the steel-clawed version of Wolverine dubbed by Ryan Reynolds, and landed in the hearts of audiences as one of the most precious roles after Hugh Jackman in the Deadpool sequel.

Director Shawn Levy has revealed interesting details about Henry Cavill’s behind-the-scenes antics that led to his stomach problems. In the film, Ryan Reynold’s Wade Wilson, while looking for Wolverine, stumbles upon a cigar-chewing, stronger version of the X-Men working on his motorcycle.

Cavill, 41, chewed cigars throughout the shoot to keep himself from smoking cigarettes. “(He) not only had a strong muscular body, but he kept lit cigars in his mouth all day long,” Levy told the New York Times, according to the Independent.

The cast and crew were impressed by The Witcher star’s dedication and Shawn Levy praised his perseverance and professionalism regardless of the importance of his role. Well, Cavillerin was a huge hit anyway.

After the great response from fans and the respect he received from the crew, Cavill has established himself as the best choice for the Wolverine reboot, if such a reboot were to happen.

Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds has commented on Cavill’s version of Wolverine, saying that he could easily replace Hugh Jackman “in every way, shape or form” if he ever decides to step down.

Furthermore, the actor’s casting was facilitated and confirmed via a single text, Reynolds told Collider. Cavill’s charm and enthusiasm for the role convinced the actor as he labeled him “a great player”.

He said, “The conversation with Henry was fun. It’s one of the few cameos that is an actual cameo. The other cameos are surprises or people who have a reason to be there.”

The 41-year-old actor went on to star in Deadpool and Wolverine before he was replaced as Superman in the DCEU. This was a sad turn of events, as Cavill also stepped away from his role in The Witcher to focus his attention on a potential Superman sequel, which was said to already be in the works before James Gunn decided to reset.

Mocking DC’s decision, director Levy explained that casting Cavill was a great opportunity as Deadpool is a trending topic in popular culture. He was confident the actor would embody the character universally meant for him and also “made fun of” DC Comics, which Levi did not directly name, for replacing him.

Recently, the Batman V Superman star gave his cameo a permanent spot on his Instagram feed when he posted a charming photo of Cavillini showing off a proper Wolverine beard while smoking a cigar. Talking about his mustache, the star wrote in the caption, “For safety, I shaved off the mustache for this movie. Just the mustache.”

Other cameos in Deadpool & Wolverine (the film that officially brought back Hugh Jackman’s fan-favorite character from X-Men) included Jennifer Garner’s Elektra, Blake Lively as Lady Deadpool – another anticipated appearance, and Jon Favreau’s Happy Hogan, among others.
