Hema Malini spoke on life after Dharmendra’s death: Sadness is still there, we have to move forward
A month and a half after Dharmendra’s death, Hema Malini discusses her loss, her strong bond with her late husband, and addresses speculations about her relationship with her first family.

Nearly six weeks after the demise of legendary actor Dharmendra, his wife Hema Malini has spoken about her emotional journey since the loss and the ongoing process of healing. In a recent interview with ScreenShe discussed the impact of their 57 years together and how she is dealing with it. Despite their tough schedules, Hema Malini and Dharmendra always make time for each other and their daughters Esha and Ahana. He told how Dharmendra will return from his farm in Lonavala to be with the family.
Opening up about her grief, Malini said, ‘Later 57 years togetherI can’t imagine my life without Dharmendra.” She further said, ”I was in deep sorrow, that sorrow is still there. But trying to get out of it, because it’s too much for me. I’m strong, everyone says I’m strong, but sometimes I have to move on, I have to move on.” She admitted that dealing with her loss has been a big challenge, but she is slowly finding the strength to continue with her daily life.
thinking about Dharmendra’s last daysHema Malini shared, “He was back at home during the last few days. After going to the hospital, he was back home. By that time, I was sure he was fine. I thought he would definitely live for another year or two.” They expressed surprise at his sudden demise and noted that he had recovered after an earlier hospital stay, raising hopes that he would do so again.
Elaborating on the final stages of Dharmendra’s illness, he said, “Everything started going well during the treatment, I mean, we can’t blame anyone. I don’t know, he was fine. He was not well, so he went to the hospital. He was hospitalized several times, and always came back healthy and smiling. We were expecting the same this time too.”
Reflecting on his life, she commented, “Yes, I will always say that. He had the best life. Everything he wanted, he got. He was such a lovely person. And I’m proud that so many people loved him and the person that everyone loved so much.”
Hema Malini also talked about not being able to watch Dharmendra’s last film. twenty-oneShe said, “I had come to Mathura when it released, I have to do my work here, Besides, I can’t watch it now, it would be too heavy, My daughters are also saying the same, Maybe I’ll watch it later when the wounds start healing,”
