The sudden death of actor Mukul Dev made widespread speculation about the circumstances around his death. Now, his brother, actor Rahul Dev, has come forward to share the truth and provide clarity. Mukul died on 23 May. He was 54 years old.

In a conversation The Times of IndiaRahul revealed that, unlike the public perceptions of depression, the real reason Mukul’s poor eating habits were deteriorating.

“He was in the ICU for eight and a half days. Medical, it was a result of bad eating habits. In the last four to five days, he had stopped eating completely. Certainly, he felt alone, and he lost his interest in life. He would reject many works offer. He would only, after completing all the rituals, he shared the reality – and I only know that I will know that I will know that I only know Am.”

He also said that Mukul had moved to Delhi in 2019 to take care of his ailing father, who died later that year. His mother died in 2023. Since then, Mukul had grown rapidly, immersed himself in writing and being alone. Rahul said that his brother remembers his daughter deeply and he is not taking proper care of himself.

Rahul strongly dismissed the claims that Mukul was struggling with depression.
