Thalapathy Vijay and Sangeetha Sornalingam are set to part ways after being married for over two decades following their marriage in August 1999. Earlier today (April 20, 2026), the Chengalpattu family welfare court in Tamil Nadu extended the divorce date to June 15, 2026, ANI reported.
Sangeeta initiated divorce in late 2025, pursuing formal proceedings for the dissolution of her marriage. This is the second time their divorce has been pushed to a new date after April 20. According to multiple reports, she alleged that Vijay was involved in an extramarital affair with an actress. Furthermore, he also abandoned his wife and children.
Only after June 15 will the former couple know what the future holds for them. An NDTV report also suggests that Vijay’s team had requested to attend through video conferencing. Apparently his request has been accepted. Since Sangeeta had no problem with this, she will also participate in it through video call.
At a recent event, the Jan Nayakan actor called out his ex-wife and reacted to his ongoing divorce with Sangeeta. Addressing the public in Nellai, Tamil Nadu, he said, “Some people are wondering what I have to do next, and they have tried to use some people around me. After waiting for so many years, they have spread a rumor about which you all are clearly aware.”
The superstar said that even those rumors had no impact on the common people. He said, “No matter how many trials and sufferings you put me through, you cannot separate me from my people.”
