Has Prithviraj Sukumaran confirmed the sequel to his crime thriller Memories with director Jeethu Joseph?

Prithviraj Sukumaran is gearing up for the release of his action drama Vilayath Buddha, which will hit the big screens on November 21, 2025. During the promotion of the film, the Malayalam superstar revealed plans for a possible sequel to his 2013 crime thriller Memories, directed by Jeethu Joseph.

Are Prithviraj and Jeetu Joseph reuniting for the Memories sequel?

Speaking with Red FM, Prithviraj Sukumaran revealed that the makers of Memories have an idea for a sequel. The actor-filmmaker said, “Generally, people who make films have to say this. I’m not sure if I should say this or not, but Jeethu wants to make a sequel to Memories. He has been talking to me about it for some time now.”

Prithviraj then humorously added, “I hope he doesn’t drop the plan just because I’ve just revealed it. He has an idea, a continuation of the character of Sam Alex. Such a sequel has to be imagined by writers or directors; it doesn’t matter what an actor thinks.”

More about memories

For those unaware, Memories is a crime thriller starring Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead role, directed by Drishyam filmmaker Jeethu Joseph. The film tells the story of Sam Alex, a once-powerful Superintendent in the Kerala Police force, who is on a path of self-destruction after losing his wife and daughter as a result of one of his missions.

As he turns to alcohol to deal with his grief, a new wave of terror hits the city as a series of crimes unfold, causing chaos. With no other option, the department turns to Sam for Alex’s investigative skills despite his unstable condition and reluctance to return.

Soon, the mission forces him to get back on track, and rely on his policing instincts to catch the culprit before the threat once again reaches his personal life.

Apart from Rajuettan, the film stars SP Sreekumar, Meghna Raj Sarja, Miya George, Vijayaraghavan, Suresh Krishna, Vanitha Krishnachandran, Rahul Madhav and many others in lead roles.

Looking ahead, Prithviraj will soon be seen in Vilayathe Buddha directed by Jayan Nambiar. He is also working on Mahesh Babu-SS Rajamouli’s Varanasi, action drama Khalifa and other films.
