Marvel is really bringing new twists and turns to its universe. Now that we’re on the subject, the comic book outlet reported that the company has shifted its focus from producing Young Avengers to Champions and they will be attempting to bring it to Disney+.
According to the above publication, Daniel Richtman explained that the reason for this rebrand is that many artists are no longer “young”. In the comic book, all the Young Avengers are in their teens.
The search for a showrunner has begun and the primary reason we’re getting a movie instead of a TV show is the poor performance of The Marvels at the box office in 2023, leading them to the conclusion that streaming viewers aren’t necessarily going to want it, according to the outlet’s article. They will follow those characters into the theater if they don’t have a solid and good reason to do so.
The Marvel cast included Brie Larson, Zawe Ashton, Iman Vellani, Tessa Thompson, Park, Seo-jun, Teyonah Parris, Samuel Jackson, Lashana Lynch, Hailee Steinfeld, Leela Farzad, and many more.
The publication’s article mentions that Bob Iger, who is the CEO of Disney, has previously talked about why it is important to protect the Avengers brand, and why a spin-off (Young Avengers) does not perform well. The main event will put the movies in danger.
As for other projects in this universe, the second season of Hawkeye is expected to begin shooting next fall, for a release in 2026/2027.
Furthermore, another much-awaited venture, Captain America: Brave New World, is set to release in theaters on February 14, 2025. The audience has a lot of expectations from the film. It stars a stellar cast including Harrison Ford, Anthony Mackie, Giancarlo Esposito and many more. In this film, we will get to see the wrath of Red Hulk, played by none other than Ford.
