Harvey Wenstein, once a powerful Hollywood producer, is facing a return to New York for allegations of rape and sexual assault. The new test, which began on Wednesday, revives familiar allegations and presented a new claim from former model Kaza Socola.

Socola says Winstein forced him to a sexual act in 2006. In a civil case, he also alleged that she caught her when she was just 16 years old, in 2002, after inviting her to discuss acting opportunities.

Prosecutors say they used power to silence the victims

According to the Associated Press, prosecutor Shannon Lucy told the jury that Winstein used his industry power to control and silence women. “He produced, choreographed, and directed his silence,” he said, “he said, explaining how the victims maintained contact with Venstein – expecting the acting career, still afraid of the results of not saying.

Socola is one of the three accused in the case. All of them described complex circumstances, in which they felt forced to accept Venstein’s advances even after experiencing abuse.

Wenstein’s team says that encounters were ready

Venstein has requested not to be guilty. His lawyer, Arthur Edala argued that women were not suffering, but participating in a system where the favor was exchanged for fame. “Casting couch is not a crime site,” he said, claiming that women are close to their own Vinstein.

Wenstein, now 73 and poor health, appeared in court in wheelchair. He avoided eye contact with the prosecutors, but his lawyer listened closely while addressing the jury.

New jury, new allegations

Retory was ordered by a New York court after reversing Veenstein’s 2020 sentence due to unfair testing processes. Socola’s criminal complaint is now added to the case.

He alleged that Veenstein sexually assaulted a hotel room after wooing her with the promises of the film script. Despite the trauma, she continues to interact with him, some prosecutors say that such power-inhuman relationships are common.

Wenstein also faces allegations of sexual harassment for Mirium Haley, a pre -production assistant, and a third degree rape, including aspiring actress Jessica Mann.

Socola’s lawyer hopes that this retrick sends a clear message: “It is worth saying no matter how much time it takes.”
