Former Harry Potter actress Bonnie Wright wants her son to know everything about the iconic franchise! Speaking to PEOPLE at the Back to Hogwarts event at Grand Central Terminal in New York City on Sept. 1, the actress who played Ginny Weasley in the Harry Potter films revealed the house her 11-month-old son, Elio Ocean, will be placed in by the Sorting Hat.
“I think my husband is a Hufflepuff,” she said, referring to her husband, Andrew Lococo. As a result, she also thought Elio might be a Hufflepuff. But since he is still quite young, she hopes he will be a Slytherin.
“But I can’t even project,” the actress, whose character was a Gryffindor, said. “I have to let her be herself.”
Wright’s son is still young, but she already has a plan for how to introduce the little guy to the cult franchise. She said most people she knows have slowly taught their kids to read the books from the age of 5 and have also shown them excerpts from the movies.
“I’m counting my four years now,” she said, adding that she has always been a fan of audiobooks and would encourage her son to read them aloud.
The veteran actress welcomed her son Alo on September 19. The couple shared the happy news on Instagram with a long caption along with a picture of their son.
Wright’s fellow Harry Potter alumni celebrated baby Elio Ocean’s arrival in the comments, including Evanna Lynch — who played Luna Lovegood in the franchise.
In the Harry Potter series, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is divided into four houses, each with its own distinctive characteristics.
The first house, Gryffindor, values bravery, courage, and heroism, often producing brave and courageous individuals. Hufflepuff emphasizes hard work, patience, loyalty, and fairness, with its members known for their reliability and loyalty.
Next comes Ravenclaw, which includes qualities such as intelligence, wisdom, a love of learning, and the pursuit of knowledge. Finally, Slytherin is associated with ambition and cunning qualities, creating individuals who are strategic and determined.
Meanwhile, JK Rowling’s Harry Potter series, which has earned billions of dollars worldwide, will see a new adaptation on HBO Max. The series is set to premiere in 2026.
