HAQ Opening Day Box Office: Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam’s courtroom drama gets a low opening of Rs 1.25 crore, needs a good jump ahead

HAQ is looking to collect Rs. Earned 1.25 crores on its opening day, which is a slow start. However, the film received positive reception with praise for its performances and strong drama, which would boost its box office performance over the weekend. The film should aim to do good business tomorrow on Saturday and then on Sunday.

Starring Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam in the lead roles, HAQ is likely to follow the trajectory of The Taj Story, which is also a courtroom drama. However, this won’t be easy, as there is probably a political hand behind the box office performance of the Paresh Rawal starrer. Although HAQ also caters to a similar audience, it managed to stay away from any political lineage.

HAQ has the benefit of no significant releases this weekend. Although it is facing releases like Thamma, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, Baahubali: The Epic and others, the film still has good scope to grow and have a strong opening weekend. It will be interesting to see whether the courtroom drama picks up the expected momentum in the coming days or not.

If compared to Yami Gautam’s previous release Article 370, HAQ lagged far behind in terms of first day. This is probably because Article 370 was a politically based film and got a wide audience due to its drama and action sequences. Emraan Hashmi’s last solo film was Ground Zero, which debuted at the same time as HAQ.
