Aamir Khan Productions’ latest venture, Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos, failed to entertain the audience. The film starring Vir Das in the lead role not only took a slow start but also recorded disappointing trends at the box office. This spy comedy drama, released on January 16, could collect only Rs 10 crore. 40 lakhs on the first Monday, making the total earning of 4 days Rs. Earned Rs 4.15 crore at the Indian box office.
The film’s earnings declined by 70 percent on Monday compared to Sunday and by 60 percent compared to the opening day. As said, the film will be out of theaters in its opening week itself, which will prove to be a big flop for the makers. Based on current trends, the full release of Happy Patel: Khatranak Jasoos will be around Rs. Expected to end in. 6 to 8 crore nett in India.
Although producer Aamir Khan’s creative approach helped in marketing the film, the actual promotional assets of the film could not ignite the spark among the audience. Average word-of-mouth sealed its fate on its opening day. Had the film received a positive response, its box office performance would have been slightly better.
