Rajkumar Hirani is one of the most talented filmmakers ever in Bollywood. He has blended his impressive storytelling with entertainment in many iconic films. The iconic director is celebrating his 62nd birthday today i.e. on November 19, 2024. On this special occasion, we are reminiscing about an old conversation when Ranbir Kapoor credited his father and late actor Rishi Kapoor for getting him the role in Sanju.

In an earlier interview with Mid-Day, Ranbir Kapoor had reflected on the role of his father Rishi Kapoor in getting him the role in Rajkumar Hirani’s Sanju. He told that many years ago, his father met Hirani’s mother soon after the director’s second release ‘Lage Raho Munna Bhai’.

He revealed that his father and the veteran actor had fallen at his feet and said, “Your son is a genius, and I hope he works with my son at some point.”

During the same conversation, the Ramayan actor had admitted that he was afraid to talk to his father about his public outbursts and used to convey messages to him through his mother, Neetu Kapoor. He also admitted that he felt bad for director Anurag Basu and composer Pritam for facing his father’s wrath after the failure of Jagga Jasoos.

Birthday boy, Rajkumar Hirani cast Ranbir Kapoor for a cameo in his super successful film PK led by Aamir Khan. This was followed in 2018 by their collaboration for Sanju, a biographical-drama film based on the life of Sanjay Dutt.

Notably, while speaking with the above-mentioned publication last year, Hirani was asked about her plans to reunite with Ranbir. In his response, the filmmaker called him his “absolute darling” and admitted that he had a great time working on Sanju. Hirani mentioned his certainty of collaborating with Ranbir.

He had said, “I have some scripts and we are in touch. So let’s see where it goes.” He further explained that many times it happens when someone starts working on a particular script, it goes nowhere and he starts working on some other script and it becomes something. “So yes, I like Ranbir (smiling),” he said on the concluding note.

Rajkumar Hirani last worked with Shah Rukh Khan for Dunky, which released in December last year.
